The 3-Minute Breakfast Parfait

It funny how mornings are portrayed as this quiet time to sip on coffee, read the news and enjoy a breakfast. Yet in reality, it is usually scrambling to get yourself, your partner or your kids ready for the day.

That’s why breakfast needs to be easy. This 3-minute breakfast parfait is a nourishing and satisfying meal that can be thrown together quickly when the right ingredients are stocked.

This templates breaks down the ingredients you need and how they impact your health. You’ll never skip breakfast again.

The 3-minute Breakfast Parfait Template

Ingredients

1/2 cup of yogurt, plain

  • Your main protein source

  • Choose any style you like such as greek, regular, balkan

  • Plain is best to reduce added sugars, as whole fruit is used to sweeten

  • You can also use coconut yogurt but note it isn’t a protein source. But not to worry, as you will also get protein from other foods in the parfait

1/4 cup of granola

  • Purchase pre-made to make it easy, aiming for a product that has less than 10 grams of sugars and at least 5 grams of fibre (my favourite at the moment)

1/4 cup of nuts/seeds

  • If your granola contains nuts/seeds, no need to add your own! Just increase the portion to 1/2 cup

  • If your granola is mostly oats/grains, then add a mix of your favourite nuts in seeds for added protein, fibre and healthy fats

whole fruit, fresh or frozen

  • A quick defrost of frozen is the easiest way to get the fibre and antioxidants that fruit offers

  • Take advantage of fresh seasonal produce to elevate the taste

  • Add as much fruit as you like. Eating a whole piece of fruit is very good for your health, despite what you have been told in the past.

warm spices

  • Add whatever spices your enjoy for a final anti-inflammatory and antioxidant punch. I suggest cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice or a pumpkin spice blend.

You can easily make this the night before! Layer in a mason jar, starting with the yogurt. You want the wettest ingredients on the bottom to keep the granola and nuts as crunchy as possible!

Enjoy!
